How To Leverage A Rebound Relationship In Your Favor

By Emily Scarlet

You and your beloved of your life have broken up. You feel hurt and you want your now ex-girlfriend back. The problem is, she is in a rebound relationship. A rebound relationship is defined as someone who dates another person for the primary purpose of getting over you (applies to men and women). Rebound relationships help people cope with the emotional distress of just breaking up. They're used to help people move on from a deep love of you, which can be devastating to everyone.

The last paragraph is the ultimate key to winning your ex back. She's in a rebound relationship because she is trying to deal with losing you. It matters not why she lost you. It matters not if the fault lies with her or you. It doesn't even matter who called off the relationship in the first place. The only thing that matters is that you sincerely love this woman at the bottom of your heart. This is true because almost all relationships founded on genuine love can be saved.

If she's in a rebound relationship, she will be focusing on what is wrong with your relationship, which in simplest terms means doing the opposite of YOU. If you were a nice guy she'll probably be hanging out with a "bad boy" or abusive guy. If you were into computers, he'll be doing sports stuff like basketball or touch football. You get the idea.

The fact that she is actively focusing on the differences between your lifestyle and her rebound boyfriend is actually good for you for 2 reasons. Her focus is still upon on you even when she's with the new guy. This in turn gives you the chance to see what she's truly looking for in a man. If she's with someone that is as different from you as possible, it means that she wasn't getting something from your relationship. You can use the time she's with rebound man to improve yourself with what she truly craves.

Let the rebound relationship run its course. The logic behind this is after your ex girlfriend has spent enough time with her new boyfriend she's going to start noticing agitating flaws about him which will make her nostalgic about your past relationship and start to realize how great of a guy you truly were. Her appreciation and willingness to accept you for the man that you are will only increase, and as a result make you look very good, again. It's a known statistical fact that most rebound relationships do not last because they're founded on fear and suffering, not love and empathy. Who wants to spend the rest of their lives like that? Not you I hope.

That is the reason why you don't want to come off as desperate and needy to her, especially if you just broke up. She needs her space to rethink and get a feel for herself emotionally. You have to let her conjure up the mentality of all the great things from your relationship. When she's ready to re-establish contact with you, be magnanimous. Try to welcome her back with empathy and understanding. Be the new and improved boyfriend she craves but don't do the chasing. When your ex starts going out with someone right after breaking up with you, she's in a rebound relationship. You can make up with her and get back together again. Don't despair. The rebound relationship is a very good sign that she's still in love with you.
